Opened in August 2019, Vantage is a 471,000 square-foot mixed-use housing property for 984 students on an urban site in North Philadelphia. Directly adjacent to Temple University, the 19-story building offers an impressive 28,570 square feet of amenity space that includes a 5,000 square-foot study center, expansive indoor/outdoor fitness center, 18th floor Sky Lounge with 270-degree views and sound insulated music room.

The client set out to create a development that harmonized with their existing phase one project, The View at Montgomery, and provided social gathering spaces that created organic opportunities for residents to interact. Vantage is oriented in a U-shape, strategically aligned to ensure the maximum amount of beds have a view of the downtown skyline. The bridge connecting the two towers is also lower in elevation in an effort not to block The View at Montgomery’s view corridors.

Amenities were intentionally dispersed in a way that made the most sense for inspiring community engagement and face-to-face interactions among students. Keeping this goal in mind, the lower lobby and community room are joined by a “Grand Staircase” that creates a direct path between the 19-story tower and Temple University’s campus. Corridor lounges on each floor, fine arts room, and technology hub all subtly create opportunities for creativity and collaboration among students. The 5,000 square-foot study lounge is intentionally secluded, allowing students to disconnect and focus on their individual or group studies.

In an effort to promote not only social health but also physical health, the 12,622 square-foot fitness center provides varied spaces for indoor wellness activities such as stretching, cardio, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), circuit, strength training, power lifting, and active recovery. A full-glass storefront blurs the line between indoor and outdoor space, with a large overhead door that opens onto the activity lawn. The turf area offers the ultimate flexible wellness space with ample area for group fitness classes or passive recreation while a quieter side can be used for lounging, studying, or taking in the impressive Philadelphia views.
