The Flats on University
Fairfax, Virginia

Summary
As the first off-campus community catering to George Mason University, The Flats on University goes all in to provide space, comfort and amenities that surpass preconceptions of student living. Prospective residents looking for a touch of luxury and a convenient location just north of the university can call one of the 267 units, ranging from studios through four bedrooms, home. The five-story building of brick, fiber cement panels and siding topped with a mansard roof matches the scale and feel of Fairfax’s traditional, New England style architecture. On each level, shades of blue balance the school colors of gold and hunter green, while vibrant murals by a local artist accent the interior and exterior spaces. The mix of textures and patterns—wood-slatted walls, herringbone floors, white-washed brick and geometric tiles—adds an unmistakable energy to the 3.5-acre complex. The Flats on University offers a resort-like pool with two hot tubs and plentiful lounging spots, 24/7 fitness center featuring a sauna and massage tables, multiple study pods and computer lab, and a gaming and media lounge that opens through to the courtyard.
