The prerequisite in the planning for a technology college in Changzhou, a city not far from metro Shanghai, was to create a large campus environment in which the buildings seemed immersed in the surrounding forest. The site is anchored by an imposing front plaza with a series of library buildings at the center. Spatial relations were critical in dividing and defining the rest of the campus into teaching, sports and living areas and a hospitality training complex replete with a hotel and conference center.
